At Skyworks my coop was in analog design. I worked on a number of projects, mostly doing work designing charge pumps and switch controllers for RF switches. A new unique charge pump with higher performance was designed. Besides my work on RF Switch design I also worked on a testing script to automate the testing of the RF switch controllers. A MATLAB toolbox for the analysis of RF switch testing data was also written and utilized.
I was able to complete on my own unique design of a dual speed charge pump. The design included features to speed up turn-on time and improve conducted clock feed-through. The speed-up time was improved by a factor of 5x and the conducted clock feed through by 23.8dB. I worked with a layout technician to create four unique variations of the design layout that were then taped out at the end of my coop term.
I also wrote a MATLAB toolbox to analyze RF Switch testing data. The toolbox included utilities to plot and interpret large amounts of switch testing data. This data included IMD, Insertion Loss, and other metrics and utilities for data manipulation. This toolbox was very successful so a GUI was created to allow other engineers to use the toolbox without needing much experience with MATLAB. I also created a testing script in c to automate lab testing of RF switch controllers.
