My second cooperative education experience with Rockwell Collins was in the summer of 2010. During my second coop session I continued work on the project I worked on previously, now working on the bidding process for the next increment. Along with continueing my previous work new projects including the ship board implementation of the Joint Precision Aircraft landing system(JPALS) were included. This included use of model based development techniques and the use of simulink modeling, along with Matlab analysis tools. I also expanded the scope of my work to include a project in commercial navigation systems working on formal Quality testing for Airbus and Boeing receivers.
“Once again Curtis has proven to be a valuable asset to our team throughout his summer term with RC. He has been responsive to requests that he split time between both commercial and government systems programs wherever priorities burned hottest. He was involved in systems qualification activities for GNSS receivers for both Boeing and Airbus, proposal and pre-contract work activities for the <government> program, military airborne developments, and JPALS.
He gets along very well with a variety of project leaders and engineers, and everyone brings compliments on his mannerisms, work ethic, and the quality of his work. He is able to handle reasonably complex tasks with little or no supervision and bring them to successful completion. His flexibility and willingness to dive into something new has been great for our team during this period where we’re combining commercial and GS GPS people and programs.”
